Who We Are

The Urban Christian Woman is a ministry that was birthed out of a desire to see women of many ethnic backgrounds and urban cities “rooted, built up and established in the faith. And to not be captive to empty philosophies or human traditions...” (Col.2:7-8) We know the Bible speaks to all matters of life and has the power to change the life of each woman when she seeks to know God for herself.

MISSION

The Urban Christian Woman is a ministry that seeks to restore the urban woman with God’s truth for her everyday life.

VISION

As God’s Word works in the life of every woman, God will use her to make disciples in her local church and to be a restorer of broken places in her everyday life. Through her faithfulness to following Jesus, local churches will be strengthened and our urban cities will be found flourishing.

VALUES

Equip and Train her for strengthening the local church.

Engage her in life and culture through a Biblical Lens.

Encourage Gospel transformation in her and through her.

What We Believe

God’s Word

We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. It is without error and never changes. The Bible is trustworthy, true, and what we build our entire life upon. We affirm all 66 books of the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. As women of God, we treasure the Bible and seek to live out what we read and study each day in loving obedience to our God.

(2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. After Jesus ascended into Heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit to be our counselor, comforter, and keeper. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sins, and equips the believer for ministry and life. The Holy Spirit lives inside of all believers and testifies to the will of God.

(Genesis 1:2Acts 1:8, Ephesians 1:13-14)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is only through Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own good deeds but through Jesus' righteousness and shed blood on the cross. All of mankind are born sinners and in need of a Savior. Christ came to rescue us from our sins and offer atonement on behalf of us. The gospel is the "good news" of Jesus Christ, and we believe that we should live our lives to share the gospel through word and action!

(Romans 3:23Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9)

God

God has always been, and always will be. He is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (always with us), and omnipotent (all-powerful). He created the entire universe and mankind and He holds all things together. He is one God existing in three persons, referred to as the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4)

The Church

The church is the body of Christ that is called to live out God's mission today. It is not a place, but rather the body of believers.

(Matthew 28:19-20Colossians 1:81 Peter 5:1-5)

Marriage

We believe that marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman. The marriage bed is sacred and sex is a gift of God between a husband and wife in the confines of marriage. We believe that the wife should love and submit to her husband as the church loves and submits to Christ. We also believe that the husband should love his wife as Christ laid down His life for the church.

(Ephesians 5:22-33).

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life on earth being both fully God and fully man. He died on the cross, taking on our sin and punishment, so that we could have new life and a right relationship with God. After being crucified, He rose from the dead three days later and has ascended and now sits at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus is coming back again to rule and establish His kingdom on earth.

(John 1:1-18Colossians 1:13-22)

Baptism

We believe that believers should follow through in obedience to be baptized. Baptism is a symbol of our own death, burial, and resurrection with Jesus Christ. We are now a new creation and we live a new life by the power of Jesus!

(Matthew 3:16Romans 6:3-4Colossians 2:12)
